Dogs for KCAR auction

These adorable little dogs are going up for auction in February for the KCAR (Kent County Animal Rescue) and I'm hoping they bring in a few dollars for the organization! I'm also totally impressed by my own work! These dogs are from PlanetJune's patterns (go check them out if you haven't already!)

Pattern: Noose Scarf

My Noose Scarf pattern is now available for sale on Ravelry!

This scarf is crocheted in a single piece with no seams to mimic the popular style of wearing a pashmina or scarf called the “noose”. It can be worked up quickly from a single ball of yarn, which makes it ideal for a last minute present. Unlike the popular key-hole scarves, which has a slit in one side of the scarf, because the hole in this design is at one end, it allows for the scarf to either be worn tight against you neck to protect you from the cold and sits flat against your chest under a coat to avoid looking bulky or can be worn more loosely as a fashion accessory.

Free Pattern: Tunisian Scarf/Cowl

My first available pattern! well if you can even call it a pattern! it's a simple, beginners tunisian scarf/cowl. I made mine 90" long, which is enough to comfortably go around someone's neck three times and be buttoned. This was my first ever tunisian project and I'm very annoyed with myself that I waited this long to learn because it is EASY!

Tunisian Scarf/Cowl

Yarn: worsted weight approx 300-325 yards for a 90" scarf (I used Bernats Mosaic, I would suggest a variegate yarn to give it some character)
Hook: 6mm tunisian or regular hook (the scarf is narrow enough that a regular hook will work)
Notions: needle, 2 - 1" buttons
Size: 4.5" x 90" (or whatever size you want)

To make this scarf, you need to know how to do a few things in tunisian crochet: base row, tss (tunisian simple stitch), tps (tunisian purl stitch), and binding off (there are instructions all over the internet on how to do this, I found YouTube to be the easiest source to learn these stitches, I was going to try to explain them, but I'm a visual teacher and writing out the instructions wasn't working well!

Buttonhole: I improvised how to do this... tss to buttonhole, yarn over (yo) 2, skip 2, continue tss as normal, on return pass, work the yo the same as any other loop.

3-4: repeat rows 1-2
5-?: tss* (15)
work until desired length (mine was about 90")
1: tps* (15)
2: tss 3, buttonhole, tss 5, buttonhole, tss 3 (15)

bind off

Finishing: sew your buttons onto the starting edge of the scarf, make sure that they line up with the button holes. Sew in all your ends!

Was hoping to at least have 1 pattern ready for sale today, but as usual life happened, and I didn't get to devote as much time as I had wanted to my hook... but here's a cute hat I made for my cousin, its a modified version of my popular adult bomber hat (one of the patterns in the works)... I also have this afghan on the go for a coworker who's pregnant

Little boys hat, made to match his snowsuit, made some crocheted buttons because I couldn't find any actual ones in the right shade of blue

This will eventually be a babyghan, I have A LOT more hexagons to go, the plan is to work until it's either the size I want, or until I run out of yarn and then do an edging in a different colour to get it up to size

Teenage Zombie Ninja Turtle...

I completely forgot to post about this sooner!!! I made this lovely guy for my best friend, who loves both zombies and tmnt! He's about 10" tall and can stand on his own! which makes him awesome in my opinion, he's based off of one of WolfDreamer's pattern. Which was really easy to follow and modify. Sorry for the attrocious pictures though! Winter in Canada = not the best lighting.

I've been trying to buckle down and focus on pattern writing and I'm making good progress, but the typical issue of commissions keeps rearing it's head! I have 7 patterns in the works (and many more that are written on scraps in various places that need to be gathered)

Phone case

My new phone has a cute new case! It's definitely not perfect, but for my first attempt at multi-colour tunisian crochet, I'm pretty pumped with the results!

It took way longer than it should have, but I finally finished the "Angry Bird" hats! They will be off to their owner in Nova Scotia in a few days
